OUR PHILOSOPHY & SPECIALTY

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Women deserve to receive care from physicians who understand their problems and with whom they are comfortable discussing their most personal issues. Our physicians and staff are dedicated to respecting the personal dignity of our patients and to maintaining the highest standards of care. Comfort, respect and quality medical care are the values that guide us.

At The Women’s Health Group, you will discover 7 talented physicians, trained at some of the nation’s top medical centers, along with Physician Assistants and Registered Ultrasonographers. All providers are supported by a dedicated, professional staff. We provide a full range of pregnancy, gynecology, gyn surgery, pediatric & adolescent gynecology and reproductive endocrinology services. We also offer education and counseling regarding all women’s issues.

WHAT IS AN OBSTETRICIAN/GYNECOLOGIST (OBGYN)?

An Obstetrician/Gynecologist (OBGYN) is a physician who provides medical and surgical care to women during all phases of life: from adolescence, through the childbearing years, and on into the advanced years. Obstetrics and Gynecology deal with the various both pregnant and non-pregnant patients, and are two distinct surgical fields combined into one medical specialty.

Obstetricians complete intense education and training in pregnancy, labor and puerperium (the time immediately after the delivery of a baby). Gynecologists complete training in the female reproductive system, including the diagnosis and treatment of disorders and diseases. Education and training for both fields occur simultaneously, enabling a physician with this level of expertise to provide tremendous preventative and prenatal care to women.

The American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) sets the education and training standards for all OBGYNs. These standards include: graduation from an approved medical school and completion of four years of an OBGYN residency program.

PRACTICE OVERVIEW

LOCATION

Our office is located at 9001 S 101st E Ave, Suite 350 in The SouthCreek Medical Plaza on the northwest corner of 91st St. and Hwy 169.

HOSPITAL AFFILIATIONS

Our physicians perform obstetrical deliveries, diagnostic and treatment procedures at Hillcrest Hospital-South, St. John Medical Center, Oklahoma Surgical Hospital.

APPOINTMENTS AND OFFICE HOURS

Our office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. We do close for traditional holidays. We see patients by appointment. If you are unable to keep your appointment, please notify our office at least 24 hours in advance. This will make it possible for another patient to be seen. In order to see all patients in a timely manner, if you arrive more than 15 minutes late, we may ask that you reschedule your appointment. This is in consideration of the other patients who have arrived on-time for their scheduled appointments. We want to make your wait time as short as possible.

EMERGENCY CARE

If you have a problem that requires immediate attention, please call our office. If your personal physician is not available, another physician or physician extender will respond to your needs. We ask that you make all routine calls during regular office hours. A doctor is available to receive emergency calls after-hours by phoning our office number, (918) 293-6200. The answering service will refer all calls promptly to the physician-on-call, who will return your call as quickly as possible.

CARE DURING PREGNANCY

The Women’s Health Group functions together as a team in order to provide the best care for our obstetric patients. Although you may prefer to have only one physician primarily responsible for your continued care during your pregnancy, we welcome you to meet each of the physicians in the group. There is no way of knowing which physician will be on call at the time your labor begins so we want you to be comfortable with the entire group. When one of our physicians is on call at the hospital, the others are at our office seeing patients.

GYNECOLOGICAL CARE

Your periodic check-ups and scheduled visits can be scheduled with your physician of choice. There may be times, however, when you have an emergency or a need which occurs at a time when your personal physician is not in the office or available. In that case, one of the other physicians or a physician assistant will be available for you. Our staff has access to all of your medical records so that if an emergency arises, we will be familiar with your medical history.

PRESCRIPTIONS

For routine prescription refills please call your pharmacy during normal office hours. Your pharmacist will contact our office if necessary. After-hours prescriptions should be for emergencies only. Non-emergency prescriptions will be processed on the next business day. If you need a new prescription please call our office and ask to speak to the nurse. Please have your pharmacy’s phone number when calling.

INSURANCE & PAYMENT

The providers at The Women’s Health Group are participating providers with most commercial, HMO and PPO insurance plans available in the Tulsa area.

We encourage our patients to contact their insurance customer service department to better understand the benefits and coverage of their insurance plans before making an appointment.

The Women’s Health Group will verify benefits and file a claim with your insurance company. Patients are responsible for co-payments, deductibles and out of pocket expenses at the time of service. We accept all major credit cards, personal checks and cash.

Our Business Office staff is available between 8 am and 5 pm to answer any questions you might have regarding fees, charges and payments. Please feel free to call (918) 293-6200 with questions.

OTHER

Your care is important to us, so we ask you to please turn off cell phones prior to entering the exam area. Interruptions create major distractions for both you and your physician. We want the focus to be the doctor-patient relationship during your time with us.

We recommend you not bring children into the exam rooms. We have concerns about your children’s safety in a medical environment. We also want to be able to focus on your needs. Should you need to bring your child/children, you will need to bring an adult to watch them in the reception area. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you and your family.
