Rita Barnhart PA-C
Rita Barnhart became a Physician’s Assistant and chose OB/GYN as her specialization because of the opportunity to provide patient care through the various stages of a woman’s life. Often other specialties miss out on this privilege. She most enjoys helping her patients resolve (or at least control) their health care issues. It is a joy for Ms. Barnhart to serve in a profession that is continually making advances in order to improve the overall quality of life for all women.
Ms. Barnhart graduated from Ackley-Geneva Community Schools in Ackley, Iowa. From there, she pursued a bachelor degree from the University of Oklahoma to become a Physicians’ Assistant. She later returned to OU and completed her Masters of Liberal Studies degree. Ms. Barnhart is currently a member of the Oklahoma Academy of Physician Assistants and the American Academy of Physician Assistants. She maintains her PA certification, passing the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants exam every ten years.
Rita and her husband, Rick, have lived in Oklahoma since 1978 and in the Tulsa area since 1980. They really enjoy traveling in the western United States and visiting relatives who live in other states. Rita loves sewing, quilting and fabric embellishment. She wrote her master’s thesis on the Russian peasant, and today enjoys reading various topics on Russian history. Her current obsession is painting with wood blocks carved by her, stenciling, and scrap quilting.
